Description
Your webpages — two trainers — hands on! Web Lab is a 1-day intensive workshop in which you transform some of your webpages. You’ll learn web writing as you work, getting expert input from our two web trainers and the fresh perspective of fellow workshop participants. If you haven't written your own webpages yet, we will guide you on what to bring.
Who this training is for
If you write material for the web or manage content for a website or intranet, your writing will benefit. You’ll learn how to realise the full potential of your website by using specific techniques to communicate efficiently with your online audience. (A good webpage is completely different from a good printed page!)
Topics
As you transform your own webpages during Web Lab, you’ll learn how to create:
- personas of your webpage readers
- a page structure that caters to speedy web readers
- headings that reflect main messages
- links that explain what the reader will get when they click
- paragraphs and sentences that can be read at a glance
- webpages that are search-engine friendly.
What to bring:
Please bring web pages of your own along to the workshop — a printed version, on USB, or on your own laptop. If you haven’t written any webpages yet, please contact Write on 04 801 2559 for some guidelines.
You’ll work on laptops during the day. Please bring your own laptop with you, or request one of ours when you book your workshop place.
Would you like us to write or edit web content for you?
